Planning for January

Goal for January: Log in 22 school days

J6 and A4 start the day together
Daily review: weather, days of the week, months of the year.
Bible Devotions: In addition to AWANA work, we will continue to read through Proverbs, one chapter a day and begin each school day with prayer time focusing on a name from our prayer box.
Language: Will begin studying sign language beginning with the basic alphabet.
Art: Artistic Pursuits (an introduction to visual arts) by Brenda Ellis Lesson 1 (Artists Compose) toLesson 4 (Artists Communicate)
Out loud Readers for January:
Complete the final two chapters of 
The Family Under the Bridge by Natalie Savage Carlson
My Father’s Dragon by Ruth Stiles Gannett
Before I was Born by Carolyn Nystrom
Begin The Boxcar Children #2 by Gertrude Warner
Science: as time allows
InquisiKids Discover & Do Volume 1
Science with Air, Science in the Kitchen, Science with Plants

AWANA: J6 completed the Sparkies Book 2 on Dec 9th.  We will review the book over the month of January.
Math (Horizons 1): Complete lessons 30 to 55
Reading & Phonics (Horizons 1): Lessons 21 to 40
Including  Tests #3 and #4
Reader1 (Horizons): The Fox in the Boxstories 12 to 22
Spelling: Lessons 18 to 25, includes 2 tests
Penmanship: lessons 15 to 20

A4
AWANA: Cubbie lessons
Math: Begin Horizons K Math, tentatively plan to complete 10 to 15 lessons
Reading & Phonics:
100 Lessons to Reading, 10 lessons
Get Set for THE CODE Book B, pages 1 to 15
Color Phonics, Disc 1, Consonant Word Pairs

  1. It looks like a great plan! I have some sign language DVD's if you'd like to borrow them. Just let me know. One is directly for kids and the other is for adults but they (and you) may benefit. I have some books too but they are on loan right now. I have some dictionaries but also one on signing Bible verses.
