Art Time Saturday!

There was a little bit of contesting by my 6 year old today when the mention of school came up.  Apparently she has become wise to the ways of “regular school” as she calls it.  “But its Saturday” she announced, like that matters in homeschool!  But I felt some degree of sympathy and so we compromised on having Art-Time.  We studied the American artist, Robert Vonnoh’s work, "In Flanders Field-Where Soldiers Sleep and Poppies Grow." Artistic Pursuits Lesson 3:
Artists Look: Observe things in the world.  Without looking we made a list of things the girls could see from their bedroom window.  Then we went to their room and observed some of the details we missed by memory.  We then completed our list.

We watched Jean-Michel Cousteau: Ocean Adventures, the girls each chose a nature scene from the movie.  We paused the movie and then the girls painted a picture using the image and details from Ocean Adventures.
